A Gurugram-based logistics company has started doorstep delivery services using drones and artificial intelligence-powered robots, reported Infra Economic Times. The initiative has been launched by Skye Air Mobility, which states the project combines aerial drone delivery with automated ground-based systems to complete last-mile deliveries.
Skye Air has begun these deliveries in Gurugram, where drones transport packages to designated delivery points, after which AI-enabled systems take over. The company says this model aims to improve speed, reduce emissions, and automate the final leg of delivery directly to consumers' doorsteps.
The announcement was made at the recently concluded AI Impact Summit 2026.

Speaking at the summit to ANI, Ankit Kumar, Founder and CEO of Skye Air Mobility, said the company has been working on drone-based logistics for several years.
He stated that Skye Air has completed nearly 3.6 million drone deliveries over the past two and a half years.
According to the company, these operations have helped save more than 1,000 tonnes of carbon emissions.
Kumar said the firm has now connected its drone delivery system, known as Skye Port, with physical AI infrastructure to enable fully automated deliveries.
Enters into partnership with international organisations
As part of its expansion, Skye Air has entered into partnerships with international companies to strengthen its automated delivery network.
One of the collaborations is with Arrive AI, a US-based firm listed on NASDAQ.
Under this partnership, Arrive AI's “Arrive Point” smart mailbox systems are being installed in residential townships and commercial complexes. Drones deliver packages directly to these smart mailboxes without human involvement.

Skye Air has also partnered with another US-based company, Autonomy. This firm has developed an autonomous rover that retrieves packages from the delivery point and transports them to the customer's doorstep.
Customers can receive their parcels by entering a one-time password (OTP), allowing the delivery to be completed automatically.
Kumar explains about expansion plans
Talking to the news agency, Kumar said Gurugram will serve as the testing ground for the project.
The company plans to gradually expand the service to more areas within the city before scaling it to other parts of India. He added that Skye Air also intends to take the same delivery model to international markets in the future.

According to the company, India is the first country where this integrated drone and AI-based doorstep delivery system is being implemented at this scale.
