Eternal Founder Deepinder Goyal announced on Thursday that his new startup LAT Aerospace has successfully completed a flight of their tech demonstrator, Lat One v0.2. The company is developing ultra-short takeoff and landing aircraft using blown wing technology.
“Lat Aerospace is building ultra-short takeoff and landing (STOL) aircraft using blown wing technology. Think fixed-wing performance with near-helicopter access. A couple of months ago, v0.1 achieved uSTOL but crashed shortly after. That was expected. v0.2 was about completing the full mission and it did,” he posted on X.
Explaining the success of Lat One v0.2, Goyal said that its blown wing worked, controls were validated and it cruised at 33 metre per second. He also added that no thermal issues were reported and the aircraft stayed in the air for over six minutes. It was able to land smoothly and is ready to fly again.
Expressing appreciation for his team, Goyal wrote: “But the thing that makes me the happiest isn't any of that. It's that our CFD studies, aerodynamic models, SIL simulations, and flight logs all match, almost perfectly. That's what real engineering looks like. I am so proud of our team.”
“A long way to go, and we are getting there,” he concluded his X post.
The post also featured a 44 second clip of the aircraft demonstrating its capabilities. After staying in the air for a while, the aircraft was able to land smoothly as intended, the video showed.
Founded in January 2025 by Deepinder Goyal and Surobhi Das, LAT Aerospace develops next-generation STOL aircrafts. These are designed to take off and land from compact air-stops, offering an alternative to conventional airports.
With this aviation startup, Goyal is now focusing on regional air travel. Last month, the company acquired robotics startup Sharang Shakti, according to the Economic Times. Earlier, multiple reports indicated that Goyal has personally invested $20 million so far in this project.
