Dharavi Records 15 New Coronavirus Cases, Total At 101 Including 10 Deaths

Dharavi on Friday recorded 15 new Covid-19 cases, including one death, increasing the total confirmed infections to 101 in Mumbai’s biggest slum despite the lockdown.Of the 15 cases, four were reported from Matunga Labour camp area of Dharavi, according to Kiran Dighavkar, assistant commissioner in charge of the G/North Ward in Central Mumbai. That includes a 62-year-old man who was declared dead at the Sion Hospital.Three fresh cases each were recorded from Muslim Nagar and Indira Nagar, two from Social Nagar and one each from Laxmi Chawl, Janta Society and Survoday Society. Investigation for high risk contacts is under progress, Dighavkar said.Among the latest to test positive for Covid-19 are three women aged between 24 and 72 years and 12 men between 19 and 65 years.So far, 10 people have died because of complications related to the novel coronavirus in Dharavi, a sprawl of shanties spread over 240 hectares with a population of 8.5 lakh and over 13,000 small businesses.Total Cases In Dharavi So Far: 101Dr. Baliga Nagar: Five — A 30-year-old woman, her father and brother are undergoing treatment. Another 55-year-old man tested positive. The area has recorded three deaths.Dharavi Main Road: Two — A 35-year-old doctor and his 29-year-old wife are undergoing treatment.Mukund Nagar Slum: 18 — A 49-year-old man and his 25-year-old son are undergoing treatment. A 58-year-old and a 30-year-old men tested positive on April 9. Five tested positive on April 10 and another five on April 15. Fresh five cases were reported on April 16.60 Feet Road: Two — A 21-year-old male lab technician is under treatment and one case of a high-risk contact recorded on April 12.Dhanwada Chawl: One — A 35-year-old man tested positive and is under treatment.Muslim Nagar: 21 — A 50-year-old female who tested positive earlier is under treatment. Another 27-year-old man tested positive and three high-risk contacts of a previous case were reported. A 52-year-old man died, while a 27-year-old man tested positive and is under treatment. 11 new positive cases added on April 16. Three recorded on April 17.Social Nagar: 10— A 64-year-old man, who had tested positive, died at KEM Hospital. Five of his contacts tested positive. Another two people tested positive on April 16. Two new positive cases were recorded on April 17.Janta Society: Nine — A couple (59-year-old man and 49-year-old woman) is undergoing treatment. Two new cases recorded on April 12 and one more the next day. A 55-year-old male and a 19-year-old female tested positive. One new positive case was recorded on April 17.Kalyanwadi: Four — A 70-year-old woman and a 52-year-old man died. A 31-year-old female and a man, 21, tested positive.PMGP Colony: One — A male patient tested positive and is undergoing treatment.Murugan Chawl: Two — Two 51-year-old men tested positive.Rajiv Gandhi Nagar Chawl: Four — A 26-year-old male and a 43-year-old woman tested positive. Two fresh cases were reported on April 16.Shastri Nagar Slum: Four — All recorded on April 12.Nehru Chawl: One — A man, 60, died at Sion Hospital.Indira Chawl: Four — A 60-year-old man tested positive. Three new positive cases recorded on April 17.Gulmohar Chawl: One — A 34-year-old woman tested positive.Sai Raj Nagar: One — A 37-year-old man tested positive.Transit Camp: One — A man, 70, tested positive.Rajmi Chawl: One — A man, 28, tested positive.Suryoday Society: Two-—A woman, 72, tested positive. One positive case recorded on April 17.Laxmi Chawl: Two-—A 58 year old man died due to the virus One positive case recorded on April 17.Shiv Shakti Nagar-—A man, 24, tested positiveMatunga Labour Camp: Four persons tested positive including one death on April 17.Track latest news updates on the coronavirus situation in India here.According to latest data from the health ministry, Maharashtra has 3,205 cases of the novel coronavirus. And the data by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation indicates that as on April 16 Mumbai had 2,043 cases of the virus.
