Reliance Communications offers 84 per cent cut on call tariff on roaming to Saudi

Billion Anil Ambani-led telecom operator Reliance Communications on Monday announced a discount of up to 84 per cent on phone calls for its post-paid GSM customers on international roaming to Saudi Arabia.

"This unique offer will help all post-paid GSM customers to save up to 84 per cent in international roaming charges during their stay in Saudi Arabia," Reliance Communications chief revenue officer Nilanjan Mukherjee said in a statement.

The company has started a new scheme - Super Saudi Scheme - for Rs 786 with validity of 30 days.

Customers opting this scheme will be able to make calls to India for Rs 24 per minute compared to the standard rate of Rs 150 per minute. Customer will have to pay Rs 24 per minute for each call they make within Saudi Arabia or for any incoming call, according to the statement.

Under this scheme, SMS rates have also been slashed to Rs 10 from Rs 30.

Besides, customers who opt for mobile internet during the trip will have to pay 24 paise for every 10 kb of internet they use. The charges are about 98 per cent less under the scheme compared standard rates, the statement noted.
