Nalco Gets $8 Million in US Settlement, Shares Jump 8%

Shares in National Aluminium Company Limited or Nalco rose as much as 8 per cent on Thursday, after the company said it has received over $8 million from a US company towards settlement of a case in a US court.

"National Aluminium Company...has received $8.05 million towards an out of court settlement from a US Firm in connection with a case pending in the US Court," Bhubaneswar-based PSU aluminium giant Nalco said in a regulatory filing.

At 11:46 a.m., 4.3 lakh Nalco shares had changed hands on the Bombay Stock Exchange against their two-week average daily turnover of 0.94 lakh. Shares were trading 5 per cent higher at Rs 39.35 apiece on the BSE as compared to a 0.52 per cent gain in Sensex.

Nalco was the best performing scrip on the BSE Metal index, which was up 1.6 per cent.
