Godfrey Phillips Q2 Net Profit Down 63% At Rs 20 Crore

New Delhi: Cigarette maker Godfrey Phillips India today reported a 62.68 per cent decline in standalone net profit at Rs 19.70 crore for the second quarter ended September, due to lower income from operations.

The company had reported a standalone net profit of Rs 52.79 crore in July-September quarter a year ago, Godfrey Phillips said in a BSE filing.

Total income from operations was marginally down 1.03 per cent to Rs 1,020.54 crore during the quarter under review as against Rs 1,031.22 crore for the corresponding quarter of previous fiscal.

Its overall expenses stood at Rs 1,007.71 crore, up 4.47 per cent, as against Rs 964.58 crore in the corresponding period of last fiscal.

In the first half of 2016-17, the company's standalone net profit was down 62.31 per cent to Rs 42.08 crore as against Rs 111.67 crore in the year-ago period.

Total income in the first half of the current fiscal was down 6.64 per cent at Rs 1,961.10 crore as against Rs 2,100.73 crore in the same period last year.

Shares of Godfrey Phillips closed 4.95 per cent down at Rs 1,228 on BSE.
