US Warns Of Continuing Missile Threat & UAV Attack, Issues Advisory For Citizens In Kuwait

In its statement, the embassy said, “There is a continuing threat of missile and UAV attacks over Kuwait. Do not come to the Embassy. Take cover in your residence on the lowest available floor and away from windows. Do not go outside.”

The US Embassy in Kuwait on Monday issued an advisory to its citizens in Kuwait and warned them of the continuing threat of missile and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attacks.

The embassy also urged them to immediately shelter in place and avoid going outside.

In its statement, the embassy said, “There is a continuing threat of missile and UAV attacks over Kuwait. Do not come to the Embassy. Take cover in your residence on the lowest available floor and away from windows. Do not go outside.” 

It further urged US citizens in Kuwait to remain indoors, review their security plans in the event of an attack, and stay alert in case of additional future attacks. The statement also said that US Embassy personnel are sheltering in place.

The embassy outlined specific actions for citizens to take if an attack occurs.

1.  If a loud explosion is heard or if sirens are activated, individuals should immediately seek cover. 

2. Those inside a home or building were advised to move to the lowest level of the structure with the fewest exterior walls, windows and openings, close any doors, and sit near an interior wall away from windows or openings.

3.  If outdoors, individuals were instructed to immediately seek cover in a hardened structure, and if that is not possible, to lie down and cover their head with their hands.

The statement also warned that even if an incoming missile or drone is intercepted, falling debris poses a significant risk. 

Citizens have beem advised to stay away from any debris and monitor major news outlets for official guidance.

The advisory was also shared by the US Dept. of State Consular Affairs through its official account on X. 

In its post, the department said, “Kuwait: There is a continuing threat of missile and UAV attacks over Kuwait. Do not come to the Embassy. Take cover in your residence on the lowest available floor and away from windows. Do not go outside.”

The advisory comes hours after Kuwait's Ministry of Defense said that several US military aircraft had crashed and that “all crews survived.”
