US President Donald Trump said he had no prior knowledge of First Lady Melania Trump's plan to address her past ties with late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, even as internal sources suggest the President was briefed on the move days earlier, reported Money Control.
Trump told MS NOW he did not “know anything about” Melania's statement before it took place. Before hastily cutting the call, he asserted Melania "didn't know" Epstein prior to the statement being issued. In sharp contrast, CNN, citing a source familiar with the matter, disputed the claim of ignorance, saying Trump "was aware" of the First Lady's intent to address the media.

Prior to the address, Melania Trump's office issued an email advisory on April 8 announcing she would "make a statement" at the White House at 2:30 pm ET the following day, however, it failed to specify a topic or the subject of her remarks.

In a statement delivered at the White House, Melania said she and her legal team were pushing back against the "baseless lies.”
“The lies linking me with the disgraceful Jeffrey Epstein need to end today,” she said.
She termed the accusations unethical and disrespectful, saying, "The individuals lying about me are devoid of ethical standards, humility, and respect. I do not object to their ignorance, but rather I reject their mean-spirited attempts to defame my reputation.”
