The United Kingdom is bracing for what could potentially be one of the deadliest storms in recent history, with the Met Office predicting severe weather conditions for both the UK and Ireland.
Storm Eowyn is rapidly intensifying and is expected to become one of the worst calamities to affect the region, prompting authorities to issue a Status Red weather warning across Ireland and Britain. Reports suggest that the storm could be a "multi-hazard" event, potentially causing widespread destruction.
Storm Eowyn Speed, Landfall Time And More
Severe and damaging winds are expected due to Storm Eowyn, with speeds surpassing 130 km/h, which are expected to cause significant disruptions overnight and into Friday. Along with the strong winds, torrential rain and even snow in certain areas are anticipated, further intensifying the storm's impact.
The storm is expected to hit Ireland at 2 am (GMT) on Friday and travel to the UK later in the morning, battering the regions.

Educational institutes including schools and colleges have been shut in Ireland and Northern Ireland due to Storm Eowyn. Millions of residents in Ireland and Scotland have received emergency phone alerts, as meteorologists predict that Storm Eowyn will cause the most damage in Northern Ireland.

A red warning has been issued for the entirety of Northern Ireland, set to be in effect from 07:00 hours to 14:00 hours on Friday, coinciding with the morning rush hour. In some parts of Scotland, the warnings have been issued from 10:00 hours to 17:00 hours. In northern and southern England, amber and yellow weather warnings have been issued respectively.
Irish weather department Met Eireann issued a warning saying that electricity supply is set to be impacted due to Storm Eowyn.
“The Electricity network is expected to be severely impacted, the public are advised to prepare for the arrival of the storm including ensuring their mobile phone is fully charged to enable communication,” the weather office said.
The National Emergency Co-ordination Group, Ireland, has also issued warnings, asking people to strictly stay indoors.
“This level of winds have the potential to pose a threat to life and property, so the public is advised to shelter in place under any red level warning, and limit travel to essential only and shelter in place as much as possible under any orange warning, as there will be extremely dangerous travelling conditions, fallen trees, and power outages expected broadly,” the national agency was quoted as saying by The Mirror.
