Mythological animation film Mahavatar Narsimha has registered an impressive box office collection in its first week. The movie has surpassed Rs 44 crore at the domestic box office in the first seven days, as per industry tracker Sacnilk.com.
The movie is expected to garner Rs 39 lakh at the domestic box office on Day 8 on Friday, Aug. 1, as per early estimates by Sacnilk. The movie's total collection now stands at Rs 44.64 crore.
The action-animation film opened on a modest note, earning Rs 1.75 crore on its first Friday, on July 25, and gained gradual momentum.
Despite minimal pre-release buzz, the animated movie inspired by Hindu mythology has surprised with solid collections. Besides Hindi, Mahavatar Narsimha was also released in Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu.
Meanwhile, Film critic Taran Adarsh revealed that the movie opened on a modest note, earning Rs 1.46 crore on its first Friday, on July 25. The subsequent weekend holiday further helped the movie gain much-needed momentum on Saturday and Sunday.
“Mahavatar Narsimha [Hindi version] is yet another winner from Hombale Films… A film that arrived with no buzz, minimal awareness, and low expectations, yet witnessed solid growth right from Day 1,” Adarsh said in a post on X on Friday.

On Monday, its daily collection stood at Rs 3.89 crore and Rs 5.32 crore on Tuesday. On the subsequent two days, Mahavatar Narsimha earned Rs 5.58 crore and Rs 5.92 crore, bringing the total collection to Rs 32.82 crore.
These figures are curated based on earnings of the Hindi version of the film, including from southern territories, where the movie saw limited release.
The action-animated movie, directed by Ashwin Kumar, centres around Mahavatar Narsimha, the half-man and half-lion incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The plot follows the story of demon king Hiranyakashyap, who seeks revenge on Lord Vishnu and declares himself a god. However, his son Prahlad remains devoted to Lord Vishnu. To protect Prahlad and restore balance, Vishnu manifests as Lord Narsimha.
