Anthropic's AI chatbot Claude went offline on Monday, leaving thousands of users worldwide in the lurch as they were unable to access the service. The outage, which also affected Claude Code, led to a wave of reactions online, sparking meme fest.
According to Downdetector, reports of service interruptions surged soon after Anthropic acknowledged "elevated errors" and began investigating the issue at 11:49 am London time. Logged-in and logged-out users alike faced error pages indicating a "temporary service disruption."
On its status page, Claude stated that they have discovered that some API methods are not working and they are investigating.
"We have identified that the Claude API is working as intended. The issues we are seeing are related to Claude.ai and with the login/logout paths. The issue has been identified and a fix is being implemented."
Social media platforms, especially X, exploded with humorous takes and memes poking fun at the AI outage.

Earlier, a user posted party scenes with the caption, "When you switch from ChatGPT to Claude." The joke quickly evolved when another user reposted the video, writing, "Claude's down."
