India's star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was forced to retire hurt after being struck on the wrist by a short delivery from Sri Lanka fast bowler Lahiru Kumara during India's innings.
The incident occurred in the 58th over, with Pant relatively new at the crease and facing his 15th delivery. The left-hander attempted to play a pull shot but was struck on the glove, causing him immediate discomfort.

Pant received treatment from the team physio on the field, with an ice pack applied to his hand to prevent swelling, and after a lengthy delay, an attempt was made to tape his wrist, but the strapping was quickly removed.
Unable to continue, Pant eventually walked back to the dugout and was replaced at the crease by Ravindra Jadeja.
Pant faced 15 balls during his time at the crease, and scored three runs.
The extent of Pant's injury was not immediately clear, and the BCCI had not issued an update on his condition at the time of writing. A further update is expected following an assessment to determine the severity of the injury and whether he will be able to return to the field.

Pant's absence could be a significant setback for India as the left-hander had played a crucial role in India's 165-run victory in the Galle Test, where he scored a vital half-century.
He is also India's first-choice wicketkeeper, although Dhruv Jurel, who is part of the playing XI, is available to take over the wicketkeeping duties if Pant is unable to play any further part in the Test match.
