FIFA Condemns Racism After IShowSpeed Targeted During Argentina-Cape Verde World Cup 2026 Match

Football's governing body said it has launched an investigation after American streamer IShowSpeed was subjected to racist abuse during the Argentina-Cabo Verde World Cup match.

FIFA has condemned the racial abuse directed at popular American streamer Darren Watkins Jr., better known as I Show Speed, during the FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 32 clash between Argentina and Cabo Verde.

In a statement posted on its official X account, football's global governing body said it was aware of the "deeply offensive and unacceptable racist abuse" aimed at the content creator during the match.

FIFA said it strongly condemns all forms of discrimination and reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards racism.

"FIFA strongly condemns racism, hate and discrimination in all forms. These actions have no place in football, at the FIFA World Cup, or anywhere in society."

FIFA was made aware of an incident involving a supporter, and I Show Speed at Miami Stadium during the Argentina vs Cabo Verde match on 3 July 2026 and immediately initiated an investigation.

I Show Speed, who is one of the world's most-followed online personalities with millions of followers across YouTube and other social media platforms, has become a familiar face at major football tournaments.

His energetic fan interactions and appearances alongside players have made him one of the sport's biggest digital influencers.

The incident occurred during Argentina's Round of 32 clash against Cape Verde, where sections of the crowd were heard directing racist chants at the streamer.

Videos of the incident quickly spread across social media, triggering widespread criticism from fans and anti-discrimination campaigners.

The latest episode comes as football authorities continue to battle racism inside stadiums.
