The GIFT Nifty, an early indicator for the benchmark Nifty 50, is up 0.42% at 23,985 as of 6:22 a.m. Equity-index futures for the US (S&P 500) closed 0.62% up, while Europe (Euro Stoxx 50) was down 0.34% respectively.
Indian Market Recap
Indian equity benchmarks resumed declines on Thursday after one-day breather, tracking weak global cues on uncertainty around the ceasefire and reports of renewed Israeli strikes on Lebanon. The NSE Nifty 50 ended 0.9% lower to settle near 23,780 and the BSE Sensex slumped 1.2% or over 900 points to close marginally above 76,630.
US Market Recap
US stocks continued gains into with S&P 500 recording longest winning streak since October as Israel agreed for direct discussions with Lebanon, boosting hopes that the ceasefire deal remains. The S&P500 closed higher, despite a selloff in tech shares, while Nasdaq 100 rose 0.7%, according to data collected by Bloomberg.
Asian Market Update
The Asian market opened on a higher note on Friday. South Korea's Kospi and small-cap Kosdaq surged 1.68% and 1.14% respectively. Japan's Nikkei 225 advanced 1.65%, while Topix was flat. Australia S&P/ASX 200 was 0.51% down, according to CNBC.
Commodity Check
Brent jumped around 1% trading around $97 a barrel as US President Donald Trump warned Tehran about charging fees for vessels to use the Strait of Hormuz, while West Texas Intermediate crude rose 0.6% to $98.47 a barrel. Meanwhile, gold dropped 0.3% to $4,750 an ounce after losing nearly 10% since the war began.
