Stock Market News Today Live Updates: GIFT Nifty Points To Positive Open For Nifty, Sensex; Nikkei Falls Nearly 4%; Brent Holds Near $85 A Barrel

The Indian rupee depreciated by as much as 5 paise to 96.29 against the US dollar.

• Nifty 50 rose 0.22% or 52.90 points to 24,125.65 in pre-market trade.
• Sensex gained 0.25% or 190.11 points to 77,376.98.

• Economic Advisory Council member Rakesh Mohan called for greater Chinese investment in labour-intensive sectors such as textiles, garments, footwear and furniture, according to Bloomberg report.
• Mohan also said India should reassess regional trade agreements and identify products that could help narrow its trade imbalance with China.

• The US Department of Homeland Security has ended the “duration of status” system for holders of F, J and I non-immigrant visas.
• Foreign students, exchange visitors and media representatives will instead receive fixed periods of admission under the new rule.

• US Central Command said its forces struck dozens of Iranian military targets, including coastal surveillance, air defence, logistics and maritime facilities.
• Fighter jets, drones and warships participated in the latest strikes. More than 50,000 US service members are operating across the Middle East.

• Jefferies’ Chris Wood said foreign selling in India was mainly linked to Korea’s weight in the MSCI Emerging Markets Index rising to 23.7% from 9% since the start of last year.
• He said small- and mid-cap stocks have outperformed large-caps, supported by continued inflows into domestic mutual funds through systematic investment plans. Foreign investors may return if the artificial intelligence trade peaks or Indian market valuations decline.

• Jefferies retained its Buy rating and raised the target price to Rs 1,340 from Rs 1,300. It expects earnings per share to grow at a compound annual rate of 17% between FY26 and FY29.
• Citi maintained Buy and increased its target price to Rs 1,600 from Rs 1,525, citing flows into the wealth and asset management businesses. Bernstein retained Outperform with a target price of Rs 1,330, noting continued flows and fee growth despite pressure on yields.

• Jefferies retained its Buy rating on Newgen Software and raised the target price to Rs 630 from Rs 610. Revenue met estimates, while profit exceeded expectations.
• The brokerage said higher licence revenue supported growth and expects growth to accelerate from FY27. It expects AI-led productivity gains to keep margins steady.

• Kotak Securities upgraded Eicher Motors to Add from Sell and raised its target price to Rs 7,950 from Rs 6,500.
• The brokerage cited demand momentum, premiumisation and the potential entry into the 250 cc segment. It increased consolidated earnings-per-share estimates for FY27 to FY29 by 5% to 7%.

• Nifty July futures rose 0.15% to 24,103.70, trading at a premium of 31 points.
• The highest call open interest was at the 24,200 strike, while the highest put open interest was at the 23,000 strike. Kaynes Technology remained under the F&O ban.
