Indian equity benchmarks extended rout for the third consecutive trading session amid a global selloff triggered by the escalating crisis in the Middle East. The BSE Sensex fell over 1,500 points at the open to 78,663, while the NSE Nifty 50 fell over 500 points or more than 2% to 24,366. The rupee depreciated as much as 55 paise at the open and weakened to a record low at 92.02 against the US dollar.
Elsewhere in Asia, South Korea's Kospi fell 7.24% on Wednesday, extending losses after its worst session in 19 months, amid an escalating war in the Middle East. Japan's Nikkei 225 was down 2.91% at 54,643.28. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 declined 1.71% to 8,921.70.

Stock Market Crash Live: L&T Extends Slide In Orders Execution Concerns Amid Middle East Crisis
- L&T has fallen for four consecutive sessions and is down over 12% in the last five sessions, as per the update.
- The Middle East contributes about 37% of L&T’s total order book and about 33% of new order inflows in the first nine months of FY26; the international order book is about Rs 3.6 lakh crore, or 49% of the total, with over 80% of that international book concentrated in the Middle East, mainly Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
- The update flagged execution and logistics risks for projects in the region, including potential disruption to movement of workers and materials, and higher freight and insurance costs if sea routes such as the Strait of Hormuz face constraints.

- He said Nifty Bank opened at 59,148, touched 60,177.5, and closed at 59,839.65, down 689.35 points; he pegged resistance at 59,900–60,000 and support at 59,000–58,700, and said FIIs sold Rs 3,295 crore on March 2 while DIIs bought Rs 8,593 crore.
