Chuck Norris, the iconic Hollywood action star who was known for his martial arts expertise and powerful screen presence in films and television series like Missing in Action and Walker, Texas Ranger, has died at the age of 86, his family said on Friday.

Norris reportedly died peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones. While the exact cause of death has not been disclosed, the family has requested privacy during this difficult time.

In a statement shared on his official Instagram account, his family wrote: “It is with heavy hearts that our family shares the sudden passing of our beloved Chuck Norris yesterday morning. While we would like to keep the circumstances private, please know that he was surrounded by his family and was at peace."

Born Carlos Ray Norris in Oklahoma in 1940, he rose from a modest background to become one of the most respected martial artists in the world. He trained in multiple disciplines including karate, taekwondo, judo and Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and later founded his own style, Chun Kuk Do. Before entering films, he was a six-time undefeated World Professional Middleweight Karate champion and also ran a chain of martial arts schools, training several celebrities.

Norris made his acting debut with a small role in The Wrecking Crew (1968), but his breakthrough came in 1972 when he faced Bruce Lee in The Way of the Dragon. The iconic fight made him a global star. He went on to headline popular action films like Missing in Action, The Delta Force, Code of Silence, and Lone Wolf McQuade, before becoming a household name with the long-running TV series Walker, Texas Ranger.

In his personal life, Norris was married twice. He is survived by his wife Gena Norris, whom he married in 1998, and his five children — Mike and Eric from his first marriage, twins Dakota and Danilee, and daughter Dina. Known for his discipline, faith, and strong values, Norris was not just an action hero on screen but also a devoted family man.
