Four states – Tamil Nadu, Assam, West Bengal and Kerala – and the Union Territory of Puducherry went to the polls in April 2026. Another election cycle is fast approaching its end, with the results to be announced on May 4.
In Tamil Nadu, polling for all 234 assembly constituencies was held on April 23. The state witnessed a strong voter participation of over 85%.
Tamil Nadu Election Results 2026: Exit Poll Predictions
Most exit poll projections, barring one, suggest the DMK will return to power. According to the Axis My India exit poll, the DMK-led alliance headed by M.K Stalin is projected to secure between 92 and 110 seats. And it faces a tough battle from actor Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), which is contesting its first election in Tamil Nadu.
Axis My India poll says the party is expected to perform strongly and is projected to win between 98 and 120 seats. If it turns into reality, then TVK will become a major challenger to the ruling alliance in its debut.
The AIADMK-led alliance, which includes the BJP, is projected to finish behind the two with estimates placing it at around 22 to 32 seats.
In terms of vote share, there is a near-even split projected between the DMK alliance and TVK. They can secure 35% vote share each with a narrow margin of 2%.
The AIADMK-led alliance is expected to secure close to 23% vote share, while Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) is expected to account for around 3%. Other parties collectively could share about 4% of the votes.

In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, the DMK-led alliance secured a clear majority by winning 159 seats and forming the government after a decade in opposition. The AIADMK and its allies managed to win 75 seats.
