Kerala Assembly Election 2026: Kerala goes to the polls on Thursday, as voters across all 140 constituencies will vote to elect members to the Kerala Legislative Assembly in a single-phase election.

Here is everything a voter needs to know before stepping out on polling day.

Polling Date And Time

Polling will take place on April 9, with booths open from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. It means, voters who are in the queue before 6:00 pm will be allowed to cast their vote. Employers are required by law to grant a paid holiday to all eligible voters on polling day, including daily wage and casual workers.

How Many Voters, How Many Booths

As per ECI data, a total of 883 candidates are contesting for the mandate of 2.71 crore voters, with 30,495 polling stations set up across the state.

To reduce overcrowding, the Election Commission of India has capped the number of voters per booth at 1,200, with the average standing at 885 electors per polling station.

How To Check Your Name In The Voter List

Step 1: Visit the official website of the Chief Electoral Officer (Kerala) or the National Voters Service Portal.

Step 2: Click on the option 'Search in Electoral Roll' or ‘Search Your Name in Voter List'.

Step 3: Select your preferred search method:

By EPIC number printed on Voter ID Card, or By name, date of birth, district, and other details

Step 4: Enter the required information accurately.

Step 5: Click on the ‘Search' button.

Step 6: If your name is listed, your details will be displayed on the screen.

Step 7: Verify your polling booth details, part number, and serial number.

The Election Commission has also enabled voters to download the full electoral roll of their polling booth in PDF format at voters.eci.gov.in. 

Documents To Carry

The Voter Information Slip alone is not sufficient for entry. Voters must carry any one valid government-issued photo identity proof — such as Aadhaar card, PAN card, Passport, Driving Licence, along with their slip to the polling booth.

Do not carry mobile phones, cameras, or any prohibited items inside the voting compartment.

Special Voting Facilities

Senior citizens aged 85 and above and Persons with Disabilities with 40% or more disability can opt for home voting through postal ballots. Among polling stations, 352 will be managed entirely by women and 37 by persons with disabilities. Arrangements including fans and drinking water have been made at booths in view of the hot weather, ECI said. 

Result Date

Votes will be counted and results declared on May 4, 2026. Voters can track live updates through the Voter Helpline App and official Election Commission platforms once counting begins.
