The food licence of Blink Commerce Pvt. unit in Mumbai has been suspended after a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) inspection found serious food-safety and hygiene violations.
The Food and Drug Administration, Maharashtra State, Mumbai Division, has been conducting regular inspections of food establishments as part of its efforts to ensure food safety and quality.
As part of this exercise, Food Safety Officers inspected Blink Commerce Private Limited at Gala No. A-03, Plot Nos. 38, 39 and 40, 1st Floor, Sarvodaya Bhuvan, Ramchandra Lane, Malad (West), Mumbai, on August 7, 2026.
The inspection revealed very unsanitary conditions, severe cockroach infestation and improper storage of food products. Food items were stored on rusty racks and on the floor, and the cold storage area was not cleaned properly.
Officials also found packaged food products that were damaged or tampered with or expired in stock. The establishment was found to be in non-compliance with FIFO/FEFO for food storage.
The inspection further revealed a lack of effective pest and rodent-control measures in food storage and handling areas, along with deficiencies in waste management, cleanliness and maintenance.
The FDA also found that medical examination and health records for food-handling employees were not available. There were also deficiencies in personal hygiene and protective equipment, while food products were stored in improper and disorganised conditions.
A large-scale cockroach infestation was specifically found in the vegetable and fruit storage area, posing a serious risk of food contamination. Expired, damaged or tampered stock was also found in the cold room.
In view of these violations, the food licence of "Blink Commerce Private Limited, Licence No. 1948090000998, was suspended with immediate effect from July 27, 2026, until further orders", a release noted.
The action was taken under Section 32(3) of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and relevant provisions of the Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Regulations, 2011.
During the suspension period, the establishment has been prohibited from selling or distributing food products or continuing any food business.
The authorities have also warned that if the establishment is found operating during the suspension period, strict legal action will be taken against those concerned.
