After President Donald Trump's address at the World Economic Forum in Davos, industrialists, entrepreneurs and exporters from across the globe are re-anlysing what it would mean to do business with the United States in the near future.

According to Dipali Goenka, chief executive officer of Welspun Living, diversification of clients is a big step towards surviving in the new world order.

"For us, America is the biggest consumer and biggest customer. Earlier, its share was 70% and now it's around 55–60%," Goenka said. She added that the company is growing their customers in emerging markets like the UK, Europe and Japan.

The Welspun Living CEO explained her perspective of the new world order and termed it as a "BANI world" — brittle, anxious, non-linear and incomprehensible.

"There's no definition to anything. Whether you talk about supply-chain disruptions or collaborative nations. It has become chaos everywhere, I think this will be the new world order going forward," she told NDTV Profit while speaking on the sidelines of the WEF.

Goenka also highlighted that even though a complete overhaul of everything is going to take place, they will not stop doing business with their US customers. "When I talk about America, we are not going to lose our customers. These are relationships that go over two decades. We are going to ring fence our partnerships and work with our customers," she said.

Goenka underlined how Welspun does not just work in terms of being just a vendor to America but has inked a lot of strategic partnerships in the past and would like for them to be taken forward.

Addressing her outlook on the new world order, Goenka said it is "cautiously optimistic", stating that amid all the chaos there will also be a straightening of the world order.

"People who will be focused on agility, adaptability, reliability and sustainability are the people who are going to progress. It is going to be about putting your heads down and focusing on what really matters and continue doing that," Goenka said.
