Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the first commercial flight from Hisar to Ayodhya and laid the foundation stone for the new terminal building of the Maharaja Agrasen Airport.

The new terminal, worth over Rs 410 crore, is set to feature a modern passenger terminal, a cargo terminal, and an air traffic control building, according to an official statement. The project, which marks a major boost to Haryana's aviation infrastructure, is expected to be completed within two years, significantly enhancing the airport's capacity and efficiency.

The move is part of the government's UDAN, or the regional connectivity scheme, aimed at making air travel more affordable and accessible.

"Hisar Airport will elevate the aspirations of Haryana's youth, providing them with new opportunities and dreams”, said Modi.

With regular flights now scheduled between Hisar and Ayodhya twice a week, and three weekly flights to cities like Jammu, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, and Chandigarh, Hisar Airport is expected to become a key regional hub.
