The Indian rupee weakened by 11 paise against the U.S. dollar in early trade on Thursday.
The currency fell 0.02% at open to 81.53 against the greenback.
During the day, it depreciated as much as 0.47% or 38 paise to 81.90. That's just 5 paise off its record low. It closed at 81.89.
