At the sidelines of the Aero India 2025 event, Maneck Behramkamdin of Godrej Enterprises Group emphasised the company's long-standing commitment to engine manufacturing.
“For Godrej, our passion is engines. We started manufacturing for ISRO way back in 1985, and since then, we have been working with ISRO on various engines. India does need the next-generation gas turbine engine. We won this order about two years ago, and since then, we have been manufacturing and developing this engine. We have shipped one set of engines and are at an advanced stage."
He added that the company is ready to deliver further engines to Indian programmes.
Godrej Enterprises Group is the oldest operating entity within the conglomerate. Despite its relatively low profile, it boasts a presence across 14 business divisions, which are categorised into two main segments: consumer products and industrial divisions.
On Tejas Behramkamdin stated that, "We have developed the flight control actuators. We have also developed various lubrication pumps. The nose wheel steering is our own design, which is a part of the landing gear, where after the aircraft lands... We have also ventured into the build-to-spec."
The ‘Godrej' brand has become a household name, largely due to its established presence in the consumer appliances and locks business. The consumer products division also includes furniture and interiors, security and storage solutions, and vending machines. On the industrial side, the company is involved in process plant and equipment, material handling equipment, precision engineering, aerospace and tooling, electrical and electronics, and electric motors.
