"Cyrus Mistry was a very fine man with quality of a great human being. He was very well qualified and astute. Of all his qualities, his humility stood out," R Gopalakrishnan, former executive director, Tata Sons said.

Reminiscing about the initial days when Mistry joined the Tata Group, Gopalakrishnan said "he (Mistry) set as a priority, to befriend a large number of people in the group, and made the effort to connect with them and get to know them in a very short period of time".

He came to grips with the challenges of the job, and perhaps, in the process of consultation and execution, he might have been misunderstood or he misjudged; it could also have been a bit of both which led to the unfortunate event of his ouster from the position of Chairman of Tata Sons."

He was one of the finest bosses. I was privileged to serve under him in the Tata Group. His demise is a great loss for the corporate world.
