BYD is preparing to bring its luxury vehicle brand, Denza, to India on November 13, marking its entry into a higher price segment of the country's electric vehicle market. The launch is expected to introduce two models, the D9 luxury MPV and the Z9 GT electric shooting brake. Both vehicles are likely to be positioned above BYD's existing offerings, targeting buyers looking for premium electric mobility.
Denza India Launch Date, Expected Models
Denza has confirmed November 13 as the date for its India debut. While the company has not officially confirmed the complete launch lineup, the D9 and Z9 GT are expected to be its first offerings in the country.
Denza is BYD's luxury brand, with a portfolio that includes premium electric vehicles and plug in hybrids in international markets. In India, the brand is expected to occupy a price bracket above Rs 80 lakh, giving BYD a presence in a segment currently served by premium electric cars and luxury people movers.
Denza D9: Expected Price, Features
The Denza D9 is a large, three row luxury MPV expected to be priced at around Rs 90 lakh, ex showroom. It is likely to compete with the MG M9 and could also attract buyers considering the Toyota Vellfire. The global electric version has a 103.36kWh battery and a claimed WLTP range of up to 520km in its front wheel drive configuration.
Its cabin offers a seven seat layout, with second row captain's chairs featuring powered adjustment, ventilation and massage functions. India specific specifications and the final price are yet to be announced.

Denza Z9 GT: Expected Price, Features
The Denza Z9 GT is a performance focused electric shooting brake with a low roofline and four door design. It is expected to be priced between Rs 1.2 crore and Rs 1.5 crore in India. In its global specification, the tri motor electric version produces 1,156hp and can accelerate from 0 to 100kph in a claimed 2.7 seconds.
It has a 122.5kWh battery and a claimed WLTP range of up to 600km. These figures relate to the international model; the India specific equipment and final pricing remain unconfirmed.
How Denza Will Be Positioned In India
Denza is expected to begin its India operations with imported vehicles, known as completely built units, rather than locally assembled models. The brand is also expected to establish a separate premium retail presence.
Denza's entry will give Indian buyers another option in the premium electric vehicle market, but its challenge will extend beyond introducing powerful vehicles and feature rich cabins. Pricing, after sales support and charging convenience will be important in convincing luxury car buyers to consider a newer brand. The November launch should provide a clearer picture of how BYD intends to establish Denza in India.
