The US Central Command stated in an 'X' post that the Strait of Hormuz was open to all vessels seeking safe transit. The US stated that it had forces positioned and was prepared to ensure freedom of navigation of the Strait.

In a separate development, Qatar’s former Emir ⁠Sheikh Hamad bin ⁠Khalifa Al Thani ‌has passed away at the age of ⁠74.

“With hearts steadfast in faith in God’s decree and destiny, the Amiri Diwan mourns the great loss to the nation of the late – may God have mercy on him – His Highness the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who passed away this morning,” the Amiri Diwan said in a statement on Sunday.

The Kuwaiti Army, in a post on X warned residents to follow  security and safety instructions issued by authorities as tensions in the region escalate.

The post read, "The General Staff of the Army notes that any explosion sounds heard are the result of air defense systems intercepting hostile attacks. Everyone is requested to adhere to the security and safety instructions issued by the competent authorities."

The UAE said its air defence systems were engaging with fresh missile and drone threats on early Sunday morning, July 12. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) alerted residents early morning, urging them to report any debris or incident to 999. This alert comes two months after the first nationwide emergency warning issued since May 4.

The United Arab Emirates has alerted the public of an incoming missile and drone attack as explosions could be heard in nearby Qatar. A missile alert was heard in Qatar shortly after the blasts. Missile alerts were also heard in Bahrain, an island kingdom in the Persian Gulf home to the US Navy's 5th Fleet.
