Iran-US War: Indian Killed In Riyadh; Embassy Confirms Death

According to reports, the number of Indian nationals reported dead in the Gulf region has reached six amid the ongoing conflict involving Iran and the United States and Israel.

An Indian national has died in Riyadh following the "recent events of March 18", according to an announcement by the Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia.

In a X post, the embassy on Friday expressed its “deepest condolences on the tragic demise of an Indian national in Riyadh due to recent events on March 18th”. The exact circumstances surrounding the death have not been made clear.

The embassy stated that it is in touch with the family of the deceased as well as local authorities. It added, “We remain committed to providing all possible support in this matter.”

A day before this, the embassy had said that alerts were received by residents in Riyadh and some other regions on Wednesday. It had advised the Indian community to remain calm, stating, “the Indian community is advised to remain calm and composed.”

Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs has shared an update on the flight situation in West Asia, stating that conditions are slowly improving and additional flights are being arranged from the region.

According to a report by Hindustan Times, since February 28, around 300,000 passengers have returned to India from West Asia..

Providing further details, an official quoted by the newspaper said, “From the UAE, airlines are continuing to operate limited non-scheduled flights based on operational and safety considerations, and today around 90 flights are expected to operate from different airports in the UAE to India.”

Qatar Airways is also expected to operate 10 non-scheduled flights to India on Friday. However, airspace in Kuwait and Bahrain remains closed.

At the same time, Jazeera Airways is expected to begin special non-scheduled commercial flights from Al Qaisumah Airport in Saudi Arabia to various destinations in India, with the first flight to Kochi scheduled for Friday.
