Salman Khan and his family have reportedly asked Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital to maintain complete discretion regarding Salim Khan's health after a doctor's interaction with the media led to extensive coverage of the veteran writer's condition. Salim Khan was hospitalised earlier this week following a minor brain haemorrhage and underwent a medical procedure soon after.
In a brief statement to the press, his treating doctor, Dr Jalil Parkar, said that the senior screenwriter was stable but on ventilator support. The comment, intended as a clinical update, quickly made headlines and triggered a wave of concern among fans and industry colleagues.
However, the family was reportedly not pleased that the information was shared publicly and conveyed its stance to the hospital management. A source close to them told Variety India that health is a strictly personal matter and no medical updates should be given to the media. Any communication to fans and well-wishers should be coming solely from the family and only if they decide to do so.
“Salman and his family were displeased with the doctor's public statement and have clearly conveyed to the authorities that they do not want any further details disclosed,” the source added. The move is said to be aimed at preventing speculation and ensuring that the focus remains on Salim Khan's recovery rather than constant news cycles.
Lilavati Hospital, which often releases health bulletins when prominent personalities are admitted, has reportedly agreed to comply with the request and respect the family's preference for privacy in this case.
Amid the enormous public curiosity about his condition, the family has stressed that all medical information must remain confidential. While they are grateful for the outpouring of concern and prayers from fans and the film fraternity, those close to them say they are determined to avoid unnecessary attention. Salim Khan continues to be under close observation as doctors monitor his condition, with the family requesting privacy during this time.
Meanwhile, members of the Khan family have been making regular visits to the hospital. Salman Khan was seen arriving earlier in the day, and over the past two days Salma Khan, Arbaaz Khan along with his wife Sshura, daughters Alvira and Arpita, and Helen have also been spotted there.
