Continuous downpour in Mumbai has caused its key artificial lake in Powai to overflow on Tuesday morning, exceeding its capacity of 5.45 billion litres.

In a post on X, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) shared a video of the overflowing Powai Lake, which is not used for drinking purposes. Heavy rainfall in the catchment area over the past two days caused the lake to reach full capacity and begin overflowing, with the water level at 195.1 feet.
