India's Kho Kho contingent defeated Nepal by 42-37 in the inaugural Kho Kho World Cup 2025 at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium on Monday. The contingent, led by Pratik Waikar, India's all-round performer, rounded off a magnificent day of Kho Kho action.
The Kho Kho World Cup 2025 kicked off with the opening ceremony at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi and will conclude with the men's and the women's finals on Sunday.
The first-ever Kho Kho World Cup competition is backed by the Indian Olympic Association and features 20 men's and 19 women's teams.
Indian team had a spectacular start. They wrapped up Nepal's top-3 defenders in just 60 seconds in Turn 1. Waikar's and Ramji's flying jumps helped India to win 14-points lead with just three minutes remaining in Turn 1.
The Indian men's team is in Group A with teams like Nepal, Peru, Brazil and Bhutan. While the Indian women's team is in Group A sharing the group with Islamic Republic of Iran, Malaysia and Republic of Korea. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the quarter-finals.
