The upcoming 2026 Maruti Brezza facelift has been seen testing once again, signalling that Maruti Suzuki is continuing development ahead of the SUV's expected market launch in the coming months. Despite the thick camouflage covering most of the bodywork, the test mule hints at several cosmetic tweaks and practical improvements.
A key talking point is the revised CNG arrangement. The SUV is expected to feature a tank mounted beneath the vehicle, which could help create additional luggage room inside the cabin. The latest prototype spotted on test appears to feature an underbody CNG cylinder configuration. Until now, this layout has been exclusive to the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, but the company seems prepared to introduce it across a wider range of vehicles.
The current Brezza CNG sacrifices boot capacity due to the cylinder being housed inside the luggage compartment. Shifting the tank underneath the SUV is expected to open up additional storage room, improving everyday usability as well as touring convenience.
The revised setup could emerge as a key selling point for buyers unwilling to compromise between efficiency and practicality.

Brezza vs The Rest
Maruti Suzuki has established an early presence in the compact CNG SUV market, where competition currently comes from models such as the Tata Nexon CNG, Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite.
Unlike the Kiger and Magnite, which are equipped with dealer-fitted CNG kits, the Nexon receives a factory-fitted system and also offers a turbo-petrol powertrain option. Tata's SUV uses two cylinders with a combined 60-litre capacity, compared to the Brezza's existing single 55-litre tank setup.
Although it uses a comparatively smaller CNG tank, the Brezza delivers an impressive claimed efficiency of 25.51 km/kg, significantly outperforming the Nexon CNG's 17.44 km/kg figure. With improved luggage space expected from the new underbody setup, the facelifted SUV may emerge as an even more attractive option for buyers in the segment.
The 2026 Brezza is likely to receive modest under-the-skin changes. A recent test mule hinted at the arrival of a 6-speed manual transmission, suggesting Maruti Suzuki may revise the current gearbox setup to offer smoother high-speed cruising and better gear spacing. Minor suspension tuning is also expected as part of the update.
There is additionally talk of the Brezza receiving the 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol motor from the Fronx, but the manufacturer has not confirmed whether the engine will be introduced.
