The Commercial Department of Western Railway carried out routine monitoring of select food stalls at Mumbai suburban stations to check the hygiene and maintenance.
The food stalls at stations are regularly monitored and maintained with routine hygiene, cleanliness and maintenance measures being carried out to ensure proper standards, the rail body said. It, however, denied reports of closing down any of the food stalls due to hygiene violations.

Meanwhile, FDA separately suspended the licences of six five, clubs and eateries across Mumbai for serious violations, with action taken against establishments located in Bandra, Dahisar, Khar, Vile Parle, Marol and Chembur.
Officials cited multiple infractions at these establishments, including the use of adulterated paneer, expired ingredients found on premises, signs of pest infestation, and generally unhygienic operating conditions.
The action comes amid heightened scrutiny of food safety standards in Mumbai and across Maharashtra, with authorities increasingly relying on surprise checks to enforce compliance among railway-based vendors and standalone food establishments alike.
