The ongoing heat wave conditions in northwest India are expected to ease from April 10, providing some relief to the people, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted. The prevailing intense heatwave conditions in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh will also subside from April 11, leading to reduced temperatures.
According to IMD's forecast, no significant change in maximum temperatures is expected over northwest India, Gujarat, and Maharashtra in the next 2 days. However, temperatures are likely to drop by 2-4 degrees Celsius in these regions over the following 4 days.
Similarly, central India will not experience any major change in maximum temperatures for the next 3 days. After this, a slight decrease of 2-3 degrees Celsius is expected during the subsequent 4 days. For today, West UP, MP, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Chandigarh, west Rajasthan are among the states on a heatwave alert. States including western MP, central Maharashtra, and Rajasthan may experience warm night conditions, the IMD warned.
Rainfall along with thunderstorms and lightning is likely to continue over east and northeast India till April 12, the IMD said. A low-pressure area around the Bay of Bengal and a trough runs over Uttar Pradesh to north Bangladesh in lower tropospheric levels. The IMD also warned about isolated to scattered light or moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds in east and northeast India during April 8-12. Meanwhile, a fresh western disturbance over parts of Rajasthan and Vidarbha is also expected to bring rain in some states.
