Who's On The Team

BJP national president Nitin Nabin will oversee the outreach effort. The team also includes national general secretaries Smriti Irani and Vinod Tawde, Gujarat minister Harsh Sanghavi and Chhattisgarh minister OP Choudhary, along with other party leaders. The team is expected to work on an outreach strategy that allows the party to engage with Gen Z and understand issues that matter to younger voters.

PM Modi Calls For Greater Youth Engagement

The BJP's move comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for greater engagement between government departments, universities and young people to bring new ideas to policymaking.

During a high-level meeting with government secretaries, Modi stressed that interaction with universities and youth could help generate new and unconventional ideas. He also called for greater focus on research and innovation, while urging officials to take a long-term approach on shaping the country's future.

“Prime Minister concluded by reiterating the need for a whole-of-government approach, greater coordination, innovative thinking and collective ownership to address complex challenges and shape India's future with a long-term perspective,” read an official statement from the PMO.

Outreach Comes Amid Youth-Focused Political Push

The BJP's Gen Z outreach comes as opposition parties are also stepping up their engagement with young voters. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is holding the ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj' programme in Pune on August 22 (from 4.30 pm to 9.30 pm), focusing on issues such as paper leaks, exam irregularities and rising education fees, with particular attention to concerns affecting young women.
