Bihar Election 2025 Highlights: Turnout Sees Record High Of 68.76%; Women Led In Voting

The provisional average voting number for women was seen at 71.6% while 62.8% of males voted in Bihar.

Voter turnout for the second phase of Bihar elections stood at 68.76%, as per provisional data shared by ECI. While the average turnout for both phases was seen at 66.91%.

Voting has come to a close in the state of Bihar and it has recorded the highest-ever turnout at 68.6%.

Bihar's voter turnout for the second and final phase of the 2025 legislative assembly elections stood at 67.14% as of 5 p.m. exceeding phase one turnout of 60.18% recorded at the same time.

The phase 2 voter turnout in Bihar has crossed 60.40%. In the first phase the voter turnout was the highest-ever in 75 years.

Congress leader Tauquir Alam says, “This election has a strong undercurrent of enthusiasm and eagerness to vote. Especially in Bihar, there is a desire for change. People have seen 20 years of government and rule that turned Bihar into a ‘Bimaru’ state, and they are now lining up for change.”

Nabinagar seat candidate Chetan Anand says, “This time the record is going to be broken. Everyone knows how much development has taken place, how effectively Nitish ji has worked, and the positive atmosphere that clearly favors the NDA. People are aware of the reality. The truth is that women, who were long suppressed during the RJD regime, have come out to vote in large numbers, and everyone knows what that means…Nitish Kumar ji is the face. Who else could it be?”

On Rahul Gandhi's 'vote chori' allegations, Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal says, "He says a lie and then runs away, this is a part of his strategy. Was SIR not conducted during the Congress's term? The Election Commission tries to keep the voters' list clean. The process of SIR is going to begin in 12 states beyond Bihar. His allegations are baseless. Rahul Gandhi has a different agenda, but the people of the country stand with the one who can do development for the country..." On by-elections in Rajasthan, he says, "BJP is going to win the by-elections going on in Anta Assembly constituency..."

A minor clash took place between supporters of different political parties near a booth in Warisaliganj area in Bihar's Nawada district during the final phase of voting on Tuesday.

Congress MLA and candidate from Bhaglpur, Ajeet Sharma says, "...People have seen the works of last 20 years, nothing was done...The health and education systems are really weak. People are migrating out of the state for jobs. I have urged the people to vote for Mahagathbandhan. People of Bhagalpur elected me as an MLA thrice. I became your true voice in Assembly and worked for development. Despite not being a part of the Government, I worked a lot. This time, Mahagathbandhan will form the Government. People of Bhagalpur have made up their minds..."

In the second phase of the Bihar Legislative Assembly General Elections 2025, held on November 11, the voter turnout across districts till 9:00 a.m. stood at 14.55%.

Among the districts, Gaya recorded the highest turnout at 15.97%, followed closely by Kishanganj (15.81%), Jamui (15.77%), and Aurangabad (15.43%). Other districts with notable participation include Araria (15.34%), Banka (15.14%), and Kaimur (15.08%).

Paschim Champaran reported 15.04%, while Purnia stood at 15.54%. Districts like Purvi Champaran (14.11%), Rohtas (14.16%), and Arwal (14.95%) showed moderate turnout, whereas Sitamarhi (13.49%), Madhubani (13.25%), and Nawada (13.46%) recorded relatively lower figures. Overall, voting is progressing steadily across all constituencies in this phase.

A total of 14.55% of the 3.7 crore voters exercised their franchise in the first two hours of voting in the second phase of assembly elections in Bihar on Tuesday.

On the voting in the second phase of the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, RJD leader Mrityunjay Tiwari says, "The voting for the second phase is taking place today in Bihar. Just as the people of Bihar enthusiastically participated in the first phase of voting, the same enthusiasm is being seen among the people in the second phase as well. We salute those who have come out to vote for change in Bihar and to build Bihar's future... There is a wave of change in Bihar. In the second phase of voting as well, immense public support is going to be received by Tejashwi Yadav and the Mahagathbandhan..."

BJP candidate Shreyasi Singh, on the second phase of the Bihar Assembly polls, said, "We are the biggest democracy in the world, and everyone should exercise their right to vote. I am absolutely confident about my victory."

Former Deputy CM and BJP candidate from Katihar, Tarkishore Prasad casted his vote in the second and final phase of the State Assembly elections.

Nine ministers from Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's cabinet are contesting in this phase -- Bijendra Prasad Yadav (Supaul), Sumit Kumar Singh (Chakai), Mohd Zama Khan (Chainpur), Leshi Singh (Dhamdaha), Krishna Nandan Paswan (Harsidhi), Renu Devi (Bettiah), Neeraj Kumar Bablu (Chhatapur), Nitish Mishra (Jhanjharpur), Prem Kumar (Gaya), Sheila Mandal (Phulparas), Vijay Mandal (Sikti), and Jayant Raj Kushwaha (Amarpur), reported NDTV.
