Phase one of the pilot program of the PM Internship Scheme has drawn around 280 companies to the initiative, and online applications have been submitted from over 740 districts across India, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Friday.

Launched in October, the internship scheme is aimed at providing training to one crore youth in the top 500 companies over the next five years.

"Under Phase 1 of the Pilot Scheme, around 280 companies have joined the initiative, and online applications have been submitted from over 740 districts across India. Among these, individuals from more than 570 districts have successfully joined as #PMInterns," the minister said in a post on the social media platform X.
