Albinder Dhindsa, co-founder and long-time leader of quick-commerce platform Blinkit, has been appointed group chief executive officer of Eternal Ltd., the parent company of Zomato. His elevation follows the resignation of Deepinder Goyal, who will step down, effective close of business hours on February 1, 2026. In a note addressed to stakeholders, Goyal named Dhindsa as his successor to lead the group.

Dhindsa will take charge of Eternal's day-to-day operations across food delivery, quick commerce and other emerging businesses. Goyal, who co-founded Zomato in 2008 and has led the business since then, said the “centre of gravity” for operating decisions will now shift to Dhindsa.

Building And Scaling Blinkit

In 2013, Dhindsa co-founded Grofers with Saurabh Kumar. The venture began as a hyperlocal delivery platform before shifting its focus to grocery and pharmacy services.

While Grofers expanded quickly, it faced operational and financial challenges in its early years. In 2021, the company was rebranded as Blinkit as it pivoted to a quick-commerce model.

Zomato acquired Blinkit in 2022, bringing the quick-commerce business under its corporate umbrella. Following the acquisition, Dhindsa continued to lead Blinkit as its chief executive officer.

According to a report in The Financial Express, Zomato's acquisition of Blinkit was followed by initial challenges in merging the companies. The report stated that Goyal had even asked Dhindsa to step down twice in the weeks following Blinkit's acquisition. Dhindsa, however, stayed on, stabilised the business and transformed Blinkit into one of Eternal's most important growth engines.
