The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered an FIR against Gensol Engineering, its subsidiary Gensol EV Lease and BluSmart founders Anmol Singh Jaggi and Puneet Singh Jaggi over an alleged loss of more than Rs 672 crore to the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA).
The case follows a complaint from IREDA, which alleged that loans extended to Gensol and Gensol EV Lease for purchasing electric vehicles for BluSmart's ride-hailing operations were diverted and used for purposes other than those approved.
According to the complaint, the alleged loss includes Rs 453.77 crore linked to Gensol Engineering and Rs 218.97 crore linked to Gensol EV Lease. The amounts exclude interest and other applicable charges.

The CBI has invoked provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita covering criminal conspiracy, cheating, forgery for cheating and using forged documents or electronic records as genuine.
IREDA has also alleged that the borrower submitted forged letters to credit rating agencies that purportedly came from IREDA and concerned the status and withdrawal of loan ratings. The agency said these letters were not issued by its officials.
The complaint further points to the involvement of other lenders. IREDA said 15 banks and financial institutions, including Power Finance Corporation, Canara Bank, IDFC Bank and ICICI Bank, had also extended loans to Gensol Engineering.
A forensic audit allegedly found that funds were transferred to related entities through loans, advances and repayments of earlier advances. IREDA said these transactions did not match the sanctioned purpose of the loans.
