Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd. (APSEZ) has crossed the landmark 500 million tonnes of cargo handled, marking a defining moment in the evolution of India's largest port developer and integrated transport utility. The milestone highlights the pace of growth achieved by a company that began with a single port-led vision in 1998 and has since built a network spanning 19 ports and terminals in India and overseas.

Speaking on the achievement, Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, said: “Ports are not merely gateways for trade, they are gateways to national confidence, competitiveness and destiny.” He added, “I am grateful to our customers, partners, and every member of the APSEZ family whose dedication and belief have made this milestone possible.”

Adani also acknowledged the role of policymakers, noting the support of both central and state governments in building the foundation for the company's growth. “APSEZ crossing 500 million tonnes is a signal of our decades-long confidence in the India growth story,” he said.

The company's journey underscores accelerating execution. While it took APSEZ 16 years to reach its first 100 million tonnes of cargo, each subsequent 100 million tonnes has been added at a faster pace — a reflection of rising efficiency, resilience and platform depth.

Over the years, APSEZ has evolved from a port operator into a fully integrated transport and logistics player. Its interconnected network now spans ports, railways, roads, trucking, warehousing and cargo gateways, covering 95% of India's hinterland. The platform includes 15 domestic ports, four international ports, 12 multimodal logistics parks, more than 20,000 trucks and extensive marine assets.

“Over the years, we have built not just ports, but an unparalleled interconnected transport and logistics platform,” Adani said. “APSEZ's best is ahead of us. And the best of India is ahead of her.”

Today, APSEZ sits at the heart of India's infrastructure-led expansion, enabling trade, industrial growth and global competitiveness. With a current capacity of over 630 million tonnes per annum and a market share of nearly 28% of India's port volumes, APSEZ is now firmly on course to its next ambition: handling 1 billion tonnes of cargo by 2030.
