Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani toured key project sites across Jharkhand and Bihar on Sunday, reviewing more than Rs 43,000 crore in power infrastructure investments.
The developments underscore the conglomerate's expanding footprint in eastern India, a region rich in natural resources but historically underserved by large-scale industrial capital.
In the tribal-dominated district of Godda, Jharkhand, Adani inspected the operations of a 1,600-megawatt ultra-supercritical thermal power plant. Built with an investment exceeding Rs 16,000 crore, the facility has generated thousands of direct and indirect jobs while strengthening regional rail and logistics connectivity. The plant currently supplies electricity exclusively to Bangladesh under a long-term agreement, giving it significant cross-border economic importance.
Moving to neighbouring Bihar, Adani evaluated the progress of a planned 2,400-megawatt ultra-supercritical power project at Pirpainti, near Bhagalpur. Representing an investment of over Rs 27,000 crore, the greenfield facility is expected to be commissioned within four to five years.
The project is strategically designed to support the state's surging industrial and urban energy demands. Combined, these initiatives position the Adani Group among the largest private-sector infrastructure investors in both states.
Beyond physical infrastructure, the visit highlighted a community-oriented approach to corporate expansion. Adani engaged directly with frontline workers, engineers, and tribal women from surrounding areas, underscoring the company's focus on local empowerment and employment.
Earlier in the day, the chairman offered prayers at the historic Baba Baidyanath temple in Deoghar. Describing the temple visit as the fulfilment of a long-held personal wish, he reinforced his guiding philosophy of "Seva hi Sadhana Hai"—the belief that service to the community is itself a form of devotion.
