Mumbai Voter Turnout In Numbers: North Tops While South Disappoints

Voters at many polling booths in Mumbai and nearby areas complained that they had to wait for more than an hour in line to cast their vote.

Total Turnout In Mumbai 

The voter turnout in Mumbai for the Lok Sabha 2024 election saw 52.4% electorate exercise their vote. This was below the 2019 reading but still turned out to be the city's second-best turnout in over 30 years.

Topper And Laggard

The Mumbai South constituency, home to industrialists and high-ranking government officials, fared the worst with 47.7% voting. Mumbai North constituency witnessed 55.21% polling, the highest among the six Lok Sabha constituencies in the city.

Decoding Mumbai  

Mumbai North Central witnessed 51.42% polling, Mumbai North East 53.75%, Mumbai North West 53.67% and Mumbai South Central 51.88%, as per the Election Commission's data.

Mumbai Metropolitan Region Fares Better

In the MMR region, Palghar recorded a 61.65% turnout, Thane 49.81%, Kalyan 47.08% and Bhiwandi 56.41%. Overall voting percentage in the 13 constituencies in Maharashtra where polling was held in the final phase of the elections in the state on Monday stood at 54.22, as per PTI.

The Bigwigs Show Up

Industrialists Ratan Tata, Anand Mahindra, film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, Hema Malini, Dharmendra and Sunny Deol were prominent among those who cast their votes in Maharashtra's capital.
