Indices End Lower

The NSE Nifty 50 closed 388.70 points or 1.62% down at 23,616.05, while the BSE Sensex settled 1,258.12 points or 1.59% lower at 77,964.99.

Trent Ltd., Tata Steel Ltd., Bharat Petroleum Corp., Coal India Ltd. and NTPC Ltd. were the top laggards in the Nifty.

Shares of Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd., Tata Consumer Products Ltd., Titan Co. and HCL Technologies Ltd. gained the most.

Sectors End In Red

All sectors on the NSE ended in the red, with the Nifty PSU Bank, Energy and Realty dragging the most.

Market Breadth

The market breadth was skewed in favour of the sellers as 3,505 stocks declined, 623 advanced and 107 remained unchanged on the BSE.
