The NSE Nifty 50 ended 0.57% or 130.70 points higher at 23,205.35 and the BSE Sensex closed 0.15% or 115.39 points up at 76,520.38.

Eight out of the 12 sectors on the NSE ended in the green, with the Nifty IT, Media, Pharma, Auto, Realty, Metal, FMCG and Energy being the top losers.

The market breadth was skewed in favour of the buyers as 2,119 stocks advanced, 1,842 declined and 106 remained unchanged on the BSE.

The broader markets outperformed the benchmark indices as the BSE MidCap ended at 1.78% and the SmallCap closed at 0.67%.
