The NSE Nifty 50 ended 0.57% or 130.70 points higher at 23,155.35 and the BSE Sensex closed 0.75% or 566.63 points up at 76,404.99.

Eight out of the 12 sectors on the NSE ended in the red, with the Nifty Realty, Media, Energy, PSU Bank Metal and Oil & Gas being the top losers.

The market breadth was skewed in favour of the sellers as 2,797 stocks declined, 1,147 advanced and 115 remained unchanged on the BSE.

The broader markets underperformed the benchmark indices as the BSE MidCap ended at 1.20% and the SmallCap closed at 1.56%.
