Indices End Lower

The NSE Nifty 50 ended 178.35 points or 0.76% down at 23,381.6, and the BSE Sensex closed 548.39 points, or 0.7% lower at 77,311.80.

Shares of Trent, Power Grid Corp., Tata Steel and Titan were among the top losers in the Nifty.

Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bharti Airtel, Britannia Industries and Tata Consumer Products were among the top gainers in the Nifty.

The Nifty Realty fell the most to become the worst-performing sector, followed by Nifty Metal and Nifty Media.

Broader Markets

The NSE Nifty Midcap 150 ended 2.08% higher, while the NSE Nifty Smallcap 250 closed 2.13% down.

Market Breadth

The market breadth was largely split between buyers and sellers as 977 stocks advanced, 2,998 declined and 119 remained unchanged on the BSE.

Rupee Depreciates
