Stock Market Dec. 2 Highlights: Sensex, Nifty Gainers And Losers

Here is how the markets fared on Monday.

Indices End In Green 

The NSE Nifty 50 ended 142.90 points, or 0.59% higher at 24,274 and the BSE Sensex closed up 457.61 points, or 0.57% at 80,260.

Top Gainers

Shares of UltraTech Cement Ltd., Grasim Industries Ltd., and Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd. were the top gainers in Monday's trade.

Top Losers 

Shares of HDFC Life Insurance Co. and Cipla Ltd. dragged the market the most.

Sectors Close Higher

On NSE, only Nifty PSU Banks and Nifty FMCG ended in red. Rest other sectors, including Nifty Pharma, Nifty Bank and Nifty Metal, were all in green.

Broader Markets

Broader indices ended higher and outperformed the benchmarks. BSE Midcap closed 1.04% higher and BSE smallcap was 0.86% up.

Market Breadth 

The market breadth was skewed in the favour of buyers. As many as 2,494 stocks advanced, 1,552 declined and 178 remained unchanged on the BSE.

Rupee

The Indian Rupee ended at record closing low at 84.70 against US Dollar on Monday.
