Geometric spurted up 5.34% to Rs 57.20 at 13:52 IST on BSE after the company said it has signed a contract with Ford Motor Company to provide application management services for its engineering applications.

The company made this announcement during trading hours today, 6 August 2008.

Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was up 306.88 points, or 2.05%, to 15,267.95 on strong cues from global markets. US stocks soared on Tuesday, 5 August 2008, after the Federal Reserve signaled that it is in no rush to raise interest rates and oil prices tumbled further.

On BSE, 4.17 lakh shares were traded in the counter. The scrip had an average daily volume of 2.37 lakh shares in the past one quarter.

The stock hit a high of Rs 58.35 and a low of Rs 54.05 so far during the day. The stock had hit a 52-week high of Rs 109.40 on 9 August 2007 and a 52-week low of Rs 42 on 24 March 2008.

The small-cap company had outperformed the market over the past one month till 5 August 2008, gaining 13.84% compared to the Sensex’s return of 10.61%. It had also outperformed the market in the past one quarter, declining 5.65% compared to Sensex’s decline of 13.72%.

The company has an equity capital of Rs 12.42 crore. Face value per share is Rs 2.

The current price of Rs 57.20 discounts its Q1 June 2008 annualised EPS of Rs 10.24, by a PE multiple of 5.59.

In April 2008, the company sold one of its properties located in Pune, for Rs 29.50 crore.

Geometric’s net profit surged 173.02% to Rs 15.89 crore on 13.66% increase in net sales to Rs 52.01 crore in Q1 June 2008 over Q4 March 2008.

The company's principal activity is to provide innovative software services and products.
