India may soon allow FDI to and from Pakistan to give a boost to political and economic relations with the neighbouring country, Minister of State for Commerce Jairam Ramesh said on Thursday.
"Few months ago we had three countries on the negative list - Pakistan, Srilanka and Bangladesh. We have removed Bangladesh and Srilanka. Soon we expect to remove Pakistan," he said at a Ficci function here today.
The government last year allowed foreign direct investment from Bangladesh.
Companies like Tata has already announced its plans to invest about 3 billion dollars in power, steel and fertiliser units in that country.
Earlier, the government could not push the case since FDI from Bangladesh was not allowed.
